Forterra - Desford Plant

£92 million upgrade to their brickworks facilities in the heart of England

This redevelopment of the factory will result in a remarkable 19% increase in production across the entire company starting from 2025. The efficiency improvements at the heart of the plant come from two new kilns that are designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. These kilns are highly thermally efficient due to their kiln-carb design and additional thermal insulation, leading to a strong focus on overall cost-effectiveness and energy savings. The plant will also incorporate a tunnel dryer, known for its superior thermal efficiency compared to the more common chamber dryer used in the previous site and other brick plants in the UK.
